Men’s Volleyball Players of the Week
ATLANTA, Ga. (April 4, 2022) – Ras Jesse Delancy (Benedict) was named Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) Volleyball Offensive Player of the Week, while Joelvi Jimenez (Edward Waters) earned Defensive Player of the Week, released by the league office on Monday.
Marcus Franck (Central State) was also tabbed Setter of the Week.
OFFENSIVE – Ras Jesse Delancy, Freshman, Outside Hitter/Middle Hitter, Benedict
In a three-set win over Kentucky State, Delancy recorded 8 kills and hit .400. He also had season-high 8 service aces and 9 digs. In four-set loss to Central State, the freshman recorded season-high 23 kills and hit .526 (38 total attempts with just 3 errors). Delancy tied his season high with three solo blocks.
DEFENSIVE – Joelvi Jimenez, Freshman, Libero, Edward Waters
Jimenez collected five digs, four solo blocks, and three block assists in 4 digs, 2 block solo, 3 block assists in two games against Long Island University – Brooklyn. In a home match against Central State, the Tigers gave Central State Marauders their first conference loss of the season. Jimenez contributed three digs, one solo block, and four block assists in the win. On Saturday, against Kentucky State, the freshman libero had one dig and one block assist.
SETTER – Marcus Franck, Freshman, Setter, Central State
Central State freshman setter Marcus totaled 38 assists against Edward Waters and a season-high 44 assists in Saturday’s win over Benedict.
